Stained Concrete

The stained concrete is done for the bottom level. We decided to go with a more natural look to let the natural beauty of the concrete show through instead of applying a dark stain. Thanks to Element7 for doing a great job.

Angel's Heart

We decided to go with Angel's Heart or Angelim for our wood decking. It is a tough S. American hardwood like Ipe, without the premium price. It comes in a nice reddish brown color but we plan on letting it weather to a natural silver gray to minimize upkeep.

Updates!!!

I apologize for the lack of updates for the last couple of months. I'll be back-filling them with all the pictures I've been hoarding.

Metal Roof Installed

Metal roof was recently installed and it looks great. I couldn't get a good picture of the main roof itself due to the low angle but it's the same color and material as the fascia. The siding is also completely finished and the areas you see with no cladding will be finished with stucco.

Very happy how well the dark bronze metal fascia worked out with the cypress.

Tree Killers!

Maybe tree killer is a little strong. But for those who have been working with me fairly closely during this build, they know my one cardinal rule during this whole ordeal is don't mess with the big oaks. Imagine my reaction when I checked on the house this afternoon and the first thing I see is a guy with a rotary cutting tool and a bunch of tree branches at his feet.

See if you can spot the limbs that were trimmed back above.

Soffits Galore

No, that's not the name of the new Bond girl. I'll let the pictures handle the rest.

Main Power

I'm glad these aren't mounted on the house itself. We'll have underground lines coming from the house to these meters that the electricians set up by the fenceline on the east side of the house. I'm going to find a way to hide these at some point.
